How many glasses of water should I drink every day?

You should aim to drink between 6 and 8 glasses each day. The exact amount varies depending on your age and size but this is a good guide. If you drink it at regular intervals your body will be hydrated and you will have more energy.

What chemical elements make up water?

Hydrogen and Oxygen, there are two parts (or an atom) of Hydrogen to every one of Oxygen.

What happens when you heat up water?

It evaporates, this means changing it from a liquid to a gas called water vapour.

Which is better bottled or tap water?

Most people can't taste any difference between the two. However, bottled water uses plastic bottles and they have to be transported to the shops where you buy it and carry it home. Lots of energy is used to produce each bottle. The quality of tap water is very carefully controlled so you know that you are getting the best quality water every time you turn on the tap. Tap water is the best option.

Can you turn sea water into drinking water?

The simple answer is yes. However, you need to have a process where the salt is taken out of the sea water. This is called desalination but it can be an expensive process. If you live in a very hot climate and need water then building a desalination factory may be a necessity.

What is the water cycle?

The water cycle is the process that allows the earth to keep using the same water naturally. It is made up of three stages that are: evaporation; condensation; and precipitation.

What is evaporation?

Evaporation is when the sun heats up water in rivers or lakes and the sea, and then changes the water from a liquid into a gas called water vapour. The water vapour rises up from the river, lake or sea and goes into the air.

What is condensation?

Water vapour in the air gets cold and changes back from a gas into a liquid, this then forms into clouds.

What is precipitation?

Precipitation occurs when there is so much water in the clouds that the air cannot hold it anymore. The clouds get heavy and water falls back to the earth. This could be in the form of rain, hail, sleet or snow.

What happens when the water has fallen back to the ground?

The whole process starts again and again and again ...
